GLP-1 / GIP Injections

PRESCRIPTIVE, MEDICAL WEIGHT LOSS

What are GLP-1 / GIP injections? They are subcutaneous injections that work for weight loss by regulating your hunger and calorie intake. Glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist / Glucose-Dependent Insulinotropic Polypeptide (GIP), lower hunger stimulation in several areas of the brain, which reduces your food intake. They also help your stomach digest food more slowly, which causes feelings of fullness.

Examples of GLP-1 injections are Wegovy/Ozempic/Semaglutide and examples of dual GLP-1 and GIP injections include Zepbound/Mounjaro/Tirzepatide.

How do they work?

    • Appetite Suppression

    • Delays GI motility (helps you feel fuller for longer)

    • Regulates blood sugar better (great for patients with PCOS, type II diabetes, or who are pre-diabetic)

Potential S/E: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation (can be impacted by nutrition and water intake)

NOT a candidate? Personal OR family history of thyroid cancer (medullary thyroid carcinoma) or personal OR family history of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome Type 2. Women who are pregnant and/or breastfeeding.

Medication Caution: you should be cautious if taking insulin or oral diabetic medications as the combination can potentially cause low blood sugar.

Since these injections do not help increase energy or boost metabolism, we recommend pairing them with either a vitamin b-12 injection or one of our lipotropic injections (lipo-lean, vita-chrom, or the mega-burn).

*For follow-up visits, no appointment is necessary; it is only the initial consultation that requires a scheduled appointment.
